Streaming services are known for sometimes canceling shows after only a short run, Netflix included. The reason for this? It can be any number of factors, from low viewership to simply not having the budget to continue the project. Now, it’s only been a week since the SAG-AFTRA strike ended and, sadly, five original shows have been sent to the Netflix cancellation abyss.

Deadline exclusively reported that Netflix has officially given these shows the axe: Shadow and Bone, Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.

While Agent Elvis, Captain Fall and Farzar are classified as adult animated comedies that only have one season, Shadow and Bone already has two seasons under its belt—with a very dedicated fanbase online. Based on the YA book series written by Leigh Bardugo, the fantasy drama follows a young orphan named Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), who discovers she has magical powers that reunite her world.

And when fans heard the news of the show’s sudden cancellation, they didn’t respond well to the announcement. One person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “NOOOOOO SHADOW AND BONE HAD POTENTIAL.” Another commented, “No, not Shadow and Bone.”

Another show we were shocked to see on this list: Glamorous. The fashion comedy, which stars Sex and the City alum Kim Cattrall, premiered on Netflix on June 22, 2023, and the brand-new series quickly climbed to number six spot on the streaming service’s list of most-watched shows

Much like The Devil Wears Prada with a mix of Gossip Girl, this show follows an aspiring makeup artist named Marco, who lands their dream job working for one of the biggest makeup moguls in the world. But it doesn’t take long for them to get mixed up in relationship drama, scandalous lies and work chaos.

While there have been a slew of cancellations, there are also a number of Netflix series that have been renewed despite the actors’ and writers’ strikes, including One Piece (season two), Ginny & Georgia (seasons three and four), The Lincoln Lawyer (season three), XO, Kitty (season two), Heartstopper (season three), The Night Agent (season two), The Diplomat (season two), Fubar (season two), Sweet Magnolias (season four) and Castlevania: Nocturne (season two).

So long, farewell.
