Angelina Jolie Stars in Netflix’s New Trailer for ‘Maria’ (& I Can’t Get Over What She’s Wearing)

It will hit Netflix on December 11

Angelina Jolie is a woman of many talents, and the proof is in her next project.

Netflix just dropped the first official trailer for Maria, which is a biographical drama inspired by one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th-century, Maria Callas. Jolie brings the titular character to life in the upcoming film, and from one viewing of the trailer, I can already tell she's perfectly nailed the singer’s glamorous sense of fashion.

The trailer introduces viewers to Maria, who moves to Paris in an attempt to escape her luxurious—yet overwhelming—life in the public eye. “I am in control,” Jolie says in the clip. “I will sing when I am ready to sing.”

The trailer also offers a rare glimpse at what’s bound to be award-winning costume design. Everything from the chic hats to the tailored outfits are peak ’70s glamour, and I can’t wait to see what else they came up with for Jolie to wear.

In addition to Jolie, Maria also stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of the Dog), Alba Rohrwacher (Happy As Lazzaro), Pierfrancesco Favino (Adagio) and Valeria Golino (The Beautiful Game).

The film was directed by Pablo Larraín (Jackie), who previously called Maria his “most personal work yet.” The director told Netflix’s Tudum, “It is a creative imagining and psychological portrait of Maria Callas who, after dedicating her life to performing for audiences around the world, decides finally to find her own voice, her own identity and sing for herself. I’m deeply honored to tell this story and share it with audiences worldwide like Maria did with her life.”

Maria will premiere in select theaters on November 27 before hitting Netflix on December 11. *Sets calendar reminder*
