Whether you love rap music or not, you’ll probably recognize Kendrick Lamar as one of the best in the business.

The Grammy-nominated musician has released several albums, won countless accolades and collaborated with a number of other artists. Plus, he’s headlining the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. But did you know he has a net worth of $140 million?

The 37-year-old rapper previously revealed that he’s inspired by artists who came before him. “When I look at comedy—at Richard Pryor, at [Dave Chappelle]—it’s all self-expression. I apply that same method to my music,” he told Interview magazine. “I came up listening to N.W.A and Snoop. Like them, it’s in me to express how I feel. You might like it or you might not, but I take that stand.”

1. What Is Kendrick Lamar’s Net Worth?

Kendrick Lamar is a rapper and producer who’s taking the music industry by storm. Over the course of his career, the musician has accumulated a net worth of around $140 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

“I think I’m still growing,” he told Interview magazine. “The more people I meet, the more cultures I start to embrace, the more people I open myself up to—it’s a growing process I’m excited about. But it’s also a challenge for me, to be at this level and still be able to connect with somebody who’s living that everyday life.”

2. How Much Money Does Kendrick Lamar Make from Music?

There isn’t an itemized breakdown, so it’s hard to tell how much Lamar makes from his music (versus other projects).

To date, the rapper has released five studio albums: Section.80, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, To Pimp a Butterfly, Damn and Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. In 2018, he was named one of the highest-paid entertainers for earning $60 million in one year.

He also produced and curated the soundtrack for Black Panther, for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. Lamar has won 17 out of his 57 Grammy nominations, and he received five awards at the 2025 ceremony, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Not Like Us.” And yes, he also received the Pulitzer Prize for Damn.

3. What About His Other Projects?

In addition to music, Lamar also has other sources of income. In 2019, he signed a multi-year publishing deal with BMI to streamline his music catalog. And according to Forbes, he also earned “millions from endorsement deals with Nike and American Express.”

“It will never be easy,” he told Interview magazine. “There are so many people pulling at me at one time—some want the business, some want my love, some just want my support, just to be there or to acknowledge them the same way I used to.”

4. What’s Next for Kendrick Lamar?

Well, Lamar will perform at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. He previously appeared at Super Bowl LVI with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent and Mary J. Blige, but this will be his first time as a solo headliner.

Although Lamar has kept his personal life private, he revealed that it’s not a reflection of what’s going on behind the scenes.

“The person that people see now is the person that I’ve always been,” he told Citizen magazine. “For me, the privacy thing has never been an issue that I had to carry out with full intention. It’s just who I am. If I feel I have to remove myself, I just remove myself. I won’t complain about it.”
