Everything You Should Know About the ‘Fire Country’ Cast

Fire Country cast

Fire Country is the action-packed drama that Virgin River fans are raving about, and I can see why. The stunning California backdrop, intense wildfire scenes and compelling story arcs are just a few of the show's biggest strengths. But if you ask me, it's the Fire Country cast that truly makes the series shine.

Max Thieriot, the show's co-creator and star, told Collider, "With this show, we have an exceptional cast, who all wanna make the show better. It starts on the page, and then every person approaches it the same way, which is that they wanna elevate it and take it to the next level. Each person is adding so much to their character, and really embracing who they are and what they’re doing in each moment, whether they’re on camera or they’re in the background."

Given all the stellar performances, I couldn't agree more. And that's why I've created a complete guide to the Fire Country cast, from Gilmore Girls alum Jared Padalecki to Black Lightning star Jordan Calloway.

Fire Country cast Max Thieriot Character Bode
CBS

1. Max Thieriot as Bode Leone

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else he’s been in: Jumper, The Pacifier, SEAL Team, Bates Motel

The California native landed his first role as Gus in the 2004 film, Catch That Kid, and he has since appeared in titles like Nancy Drew, Jumper, Foreverland, SEAL Team and Bates Motel—which marked his TV series debut. Also, fun fact: Thieriot is quite passionate about wine. He is a vintner who launched Senses Wines with two of his childhood friends in 2011.

As for his role in Fire Country, Thieriot portrays Bode Leone, a young convict who gets a rare shot at redemption when he volunteers for the California Conservation Camp Program in his old hometown.

2. Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else he’s been in: Arrow, True Blood, Southland, Lucifer

Alejandro has taken on quite a few notable roles, like Nate Moretta in TNT's Southland and detective Daniel Espinóza in Lucifer—and that only scratches the surface. He has appeared on Grey's Anatomy, Arrow, Bones, Parenthood, Ugly Betty and Weeds, just to name a few. Additionally, Alejandro directed a few short films and TV episodes for Lucifer and Fire Country.

Alejandro's character, Manny Perez, is a Cal Fire firefighter and the former captain of Three Rock. He's also a proud dad who often grapples with his dark past.

3. Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else he’s been in: Black Lightning, Riverdale, ER, Countdown

If you grew up watching Nickelodeon, then surely you'll recognize Calloway as Addie's BFF, Zach Carter-Schwartz, from Unfabulous. But the child star has since come a long way. He studied TV and film production at Azusa Pacific University and landed minor roles in TV shows like Switched at Birth and House of Lies. Then, he scored a recurring role as Painkiller/Khalil in Black Lightning (one of my personal favorites).

Currently, on Fire Country, he brilliantly plays Jake, a charming firefighter who's at odds with Bode because of his connection to Bode's sister's death.

4. Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else she's been in: Don't Breathe 2, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio

Arcila has made guest appearances on Black-ish, NCIS, Here and Now and Supergirl, but she's best known for Don't Breathe 2 and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. She joined the Fire Country cast as Manny's daughter, Gabriela, a fellow firefighter and talented diver who gets involved in a messy love triangle.

While discussing her character's questionable choices in season three, she told TV Insider, "Gabriela has had a lid on her steaming pot for the whole first and second season, and this third season is when that lid is kind of ready to pop. But at the end of the day, her whole life was changed. She moved to this small town that she grew up visiting, never fully living in, and her life completely changed."

5. Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else she's been in: Rustin, Guilty Party

The actress is a proud Juliard graduate who appeared in stage productions of Paris, Angela's Mixtape and Romeo and Juliet. But she's best known for her performance as Joyce in the Oscar-nominated biopic, Rustin, as well as her Paramount+ dark comedy, Guilty Party, starring Kate Beckinsale.

BTW, Latimer plays Bode and Jake’s best friend, Eve—and she's partially inspired by the actress. She told ScreenRant, "I got to meet with the writers right before we started the season...and I was like, 'I really want to showcase the fact that she's a country girl.' I personally am from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and when I got the opportunity to do this show and in getting to know Max [Thieriot], I was like, 'We're both people that are from the country, and I don't think we have a lot of visuals on Black people in farms or ranches.'"

6. Diane Farr as Sharon Leone

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else she's been in: Roswell, Numb3rs, Californication

Farr is an actress, producer and writer best known for her work on Numb3rs, Californication and Rescue Me—on which Farr portrayed a firefighter. Other acting credits include White Collar, The Mentalist, The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Two and a Half Men. Now, as part of the Fire Country cast, she plays Sharon, Bode's mom and the Cal Fire Division Chief.

While speaking with Cinemablend about Sharon's dynamic with Eve, she said, "[Eve is] the other woman at work who has some status, who has a chance to really shine in a male-dominated field, but she's also the little girl that used to come over my house. She has a vibe that she doesn't want to be mommy-ed, and Sharon has a tendency to over-mommy. So it's a perfect place for her to practice."

7. Billy Burke as Vince Leone

  • First appears in: Season 1, Episode 1, "Pilot"
  • What else he’s been in: Twilight, Red Riding Hood, Zoo, 911: Lone Star

The seasoned actor has been gracing the small screen since 1989, and just a few of his television credits include 9-1-1: Lone Star, Zoo, Revolution and Party of Five. He also landed roles in movies like Lights Out and Breaking In, but of course, his most famous role to date is Bella's dad, Charlie Swan, in the Twilight franchise.

The actor plays Sharon's husband and Cal Fire Battalion Chiefon Fire Country. Regarding Vince and Sharon's relationship in season three, Burke told ScreenRant, "It seems that we've gotten past the tougher parts of the health issues with both of them, and as sketchy as it gets sometimes, and as cats and dogs do sometimes, I'm not sure which one's the cat, which one's the dog, but they're always going to be back and forth. I'm pretty convinced that they will always find a way through those things because they are the kind of the heartbeat of the family element of this show."

Fire Country cast Rafael De La Fuente
Sergei Bachlakov/CBS

8. Rafael de la Fuente as Diego Moreno

  • First appears in: Season 2, Episode 1, "Something's Coming"
  • What else he’s been in: Empire, Antidote, Dynasty

The Venezuelan actor landed his first acting gig at 18 years old, when a casting director spotted his photo in his dad's office. Since then, it's safe to say the actor (and singer!) has been thriving. He's best known for his fantasy series Grachi, and the soap opera reboot, Dynasty.

In Fire Country, he plays Diego, the Cal Fire paramedic who almost married Gabriela. Showrunner Tia Napolitano discussed how fans empathize with his character, telling Parade, “I think the most interesting thing is that you love Bode and Gabriela...They're good people who make real human mistakes, and they have hurt someone, and they feel terrible, and it's messy. But the most interesting version is that you feel for the other guy, too. I think you feel for everybody. And if there's empathy in all directions, that's good television, right?”

fire country cast leven rambin
Eike Schroter/CBS

9. Leven Rambin as Audrey James

  • First appears in: Season 3, Episode 2, "Firing Squad"
  • What else she's been in: The Hunger Games, The Path, True Detective

The actress and Texas native landed her first major role on All My Children, playing look-alike half-sisters Lily Montgomery and Ava Benton at just 13 years old. She also had recurring roles on Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami, One Tree Hill, True Detective and Gone.

Rambin currently has a recurring role as ex-con Audrey James, and Thieriot gushed about her work while chatting with One Chicago Center. He said, "Leven [Rambin] is incredible. She's really easy to work with and she was able to bring so many layers to her character that allows her and I to play with so many different things. The scenes are really fun."

Fire Country cast Jared Padalecki
Eric Milner/CBS

10. Jared Padalecki as Camden Casey

  • First appears in: Season 3, Episode 5, "Edgewater's About to Get Real Cozy"
  • What else he’s been in: Supernatural, Walker, Gilmore Girls

Confession: I can't see Padalecki without thinking of his iconic Supernatural character, Sam Winchester. He's also known for playing one of Rory's love interests in Gilmore Girls and Cordell in the action drama, Walker.

On Fire Country, Padalecki plays Camden, whose traumatic past and seemingly carefree demeanor make him one of the most fascinating characters on the show. Thieriot told Cinemablend, "Jared was really serious about his approach…and his character and his character's backstory, and he spent a lot of time going in deeper on this lone wolf concept. [He] brought his own personal life experiences and just things that mean a lot to him."
