Who Is Barbara Pollard, aka Melissa Montgomery on Netflix’s ‘Virgin River’?

Virgin River season five is now streaming on Netflix. In honor of the premiere, we’re turning our attention to one of the show’s newest cast members, Barbara Pollard. Her character, Melissa Montgomery, was briefly introduced in the previous installment, but based on the trailer, it seems she will have a much larger role in the new episodes.

1. Who Is Barbara Pollard?

Barbara Pollard is an actress and playwright who hails from Vancouver, Canada. Although she got her start in theater, she has since made a name for herself as a TV actress.

2. Is She Part of the Virgin River Cast?

Pollard stars as the town’s newest villain Melissa Montgomery, who’s the sister of Nick (Keith MacKechnie). Although Melissa doesn’t arrive until season four, it doesn’t take long for Melissa to show her true colors. Not only is she hiding a dark past, but she’s also the mastermind behind Virgin River’s drug trade. FYI, she stepped in for Calvin (David Cubitt).

3. What Else Has She Been in?

Pollard has been acting since the ’90s, so she’s no stranger to the entertainment industry. Her early career consisted of small guest roles in shows like Max Glick, The X-Files, Da Vinci's Inquest, The Outer Limits, The Killing, Supernatural and Chesapeake Shores. However, her most noteworthy TV role was portraying Janet in Mom & Me (and Everyone Online). Most recently, Pollard played Dot in Champions alongside Woody Harrelson.
