Cameron Diaz Is Back in Action (and Reuniting with Jamie Foxx) in First Movie Role Since 2014

And there's a new teaser

It’s been ten years since Cameron Diaz showed off her acting chops. And now, the 52-year-old actress is finally coming out of acting retirement

Netflix recently released the first official trailer for Back in Action, which is like a cross between Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The Americans. Diaz will star alongside Jamie Foxx in the upcoming movie, and it will mark her first film since Annie in 2014 (which, ironically, also starred Foxx).

Back in Action follows two seemingly average parents who just so happen to be retired CIA spies. “We’re on a mission, and we take this opportunity where people might think we’re dead, to disappear off the face of the planet and start a new life and raise our family,” Diaz told Netflix

Although they put the world of espionage behind them years ago, they’re forced to return to their roots when their cover is blown. “OK, you know that I love our life,” Diaz says in the clip. “Tonight, something clicked. For the first time in a really long time, I felt alive again.”

In addition to Diaz and Foxx, Back in Action features an all-star cast that includes Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Glenn Close (Hillbilly Elegy), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Jamie Demetriou (Barbie), McKenna Roberts (Skyscraper) and Rylan Jackson (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves).

Back in Action will hit Netflix on January 17, 2025.
