‘And Just Like That…’ Season 2: the Premiere Date, New Trailer, Spoilers & Return of Samantha

Reuniting with Carrie Bradshaw and (most of) her BFFs has been quite a ride, to say the least.

From steamy romance scenes to bombshell reveals, Max's And Just Like That reminded us that navigating relationships in your 30s isn't nearly as complicated as in your 50s. (FYI, you can listen to our resident SATC experts Dara Katz and Phil Mutz discuss season one of the reboot on And Just Like That...a Sex and the City Reboot Podcast.)

Max just released the official trailer for And Just Like That… season two, which included all kinds of juicy tidbits for the episodes to come. Not to mention, the clip arrived only a day after it was revealed that Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones) would be returning for a cameo (gasp!).

Keep reading for everything we know so far about And Just Like That... season 2, including the premiere date, the official trailer, returning cast members and more.

1. Has And Just Like That... Season 2 Been Confirmed?

Last year, HBO Max renewed the popular spin-off for another season. Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, said in a statement, “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much.”

She continued, “We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”

2. When Did And Just Like That… Season 2 Start Filming?

Production for And Just Like That season 2 began back in October 2022. On Instagram, Sara Ramirez (who plays Che on the show) shared a sneak peek picture of the scripts for episodes one and two of season two. They wrote a cryptic message in the caption, writing, “🤫shhhhh…..” Now, this is just a hunch, but the photo was possibly taken during a table read for the new season.

Even Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) posted a similar snapshot on her personal Instagram page. Just below the show’s title was “Episode 201” written on the white sheet of paper. However, the Hocus Pocus actress chose to scribble out the third line with a purple pen.

4. Who’s In the Cast?

The show’s leading ladies—Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon—will return to reprise their roles. Additionally, newcomers Ramírez, Nicole Ari Parker, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman are set to return.

However, Chris Noth (Big) won't make any more appearances (even in flashback form). But, there is one character who will make a long-awaited comeback...

5. Will Kim Cattrall Return?

Yes, Kim Cattrall will return as Samantha Jones for season 2 of And Just Like That, but only briefly.

According to Variety, the 66-year-old actress will reprise her role in the season two finale, where she’ll appear in only one scene.

The scene will feature a phone conversation between Samantha and Carrie. Cattrall reportedly shot the dialogue without ever interacting with the rest of the cast.

6. Is John Corbett Joining the Cast?

That’s right, Cattrall won't be the only one returning to the series. John Corbett will also reprise his role as Aidan. While little is known about his involvement, Parker shared a slideshow of BTS photos on Instagram featuring Carrie kissing Aidan, so prepare for some déjà vu.

7. What’s the Plot for Season 2?

Plot details haven't been confirmed just yet, but we think it’ll flesh out quite a few storylines from season one, including the direction of Carrie and Miranda’s love lives.

Parker (aka Lisa Todd Wexley) sat down with PureWow and shared that she’s hoping for her character to have more steamy scenes in the new season.

“I can’t wait to see what happens,” she said. “I think my character could have a little bit more sex in the city, and I got a really great co-star, Chris Jackson, from Hamilton, as you know. I think this season, there's going to be more marital fun.”

8. Is There an Official Trailer?

The trailer offers a glimpse of what’s to come in And Just Like That season 2. “You don't move on because you're ready to,” Carrie says at the beginning of the clip. “You move on because you've outgrown who you used to be.”

In the video, we see that season 2 includes more relationship drama for Miranda and Che, the return of Steve (David Eigenberg) and a shocking email from Carrie to her former flame, Aidan, which suggests the Carrie is the one who reignites this relationship.
