Here’s Why Amanda Seyfried’s Husband Looks So Familiar

Amanda Seyfried has come a long way since she made her iconic film debut in Mean Girls. Since then, she’s appeared in movies that range from feel-good musicals (Mamma Mia!) and romantic comedies (Letters to Juliet) to terrifying horror flicks (Things Heard & Seen). And now, the actress is getting recognition for her role in the miniseries, The Dropout, which earned her an Emmy Award and has now gotten her a SAG nomination thanks to her outstanding portrayal of the disgraced CEO of Theranos, Elizabeth Holmes. But all of this success has made us want to take a closer look at Seyfried’s personal life. Or more specifically, her relationship with her husband, Thomas Sadoski.

Keep reading for all the details on Amanda Seyfried’s husband: how they met, when they got married and more.

1. Who Is Amanda Seyfried’s Husband?

Seyfried’s husband is actor Thomas Sadoski, who’s best known for his role as Don Keefer in the HBO series, The Newsroom. You may also recognize him from Life in Pieces (where he played Matt Short), Tommy (where he portrayed Mayor Buddy Gray) and The Slap (where he appeared as Gary).

Sadoski also boasts several theater credits, including White Noise, Belleville, Reasons to be Pretty and Reckless.

2. How Did They Meet?

The actors first crossed paths in May 2015, when they were working on an off-Broadway play called The Way We Get By. In it, they played a pair of strangers who hook up at a wedding reception. But this didn’t immediately lead to a relationship, because Sadoski was married to Kimberly Hope and Seyfried was dating Justin Long at the time.

Fast-forward to November 2015, and the pair collaborated once again. Only this time, they played a romantic couple in the film The Last Word. By then, Sadoski had divorced his wife and Seyfried had parted ways with Long. So, by the beginning of 2016, it was confirmed that these two were officially an item.

Since then, the couple has worked on a few projects together. Last year, the pair appeared in a short horror film called Skin & Bone. Per the official Tribeca Film website, the movie’s description reads, “After taking a job on a farm run by a reclusive woman, a drifter begins suffering from visions of men trapped inside the bodies of animals.”

And that’s not all—Seyfried and Sadoski are set to appear in the upcoming Apple TV+ show, The Crowded Room. The anthology series will tell the story of those who are struggling with and have learned to live with mental illness. The show will premiere sometime this year.

3. When Did They Get Married?

After a few months of dating (and PDA moments), People magazine confirmed in September 2016 that the two were engaged to be married.

The couple made it official and eloped in March 2017. While appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Sadoski said, "We just took off into the country with an officiant and, just the two of us, and we did our thing. It was beautiful. It was everything that it should be. It was just the two of us talking to each other."

4. Do They Have Children?

Absolutely. In fact, they announced that they were expecting their first child in November 2016—just four months before they exchanged their vows. And later that month, Seyfried gave birth to their daughter, Nina.

In September 2020, the couple surprised fans by announcing the birth of their second child, Thomas Jr. In a statement, the couple wrote, "Since the birth of our daughter three years ago, our commitment to the innocent children that are so brutally affected by conflict and war has been a driving force in our lives. With the birth of our son, the work of INARA and War Child has become our North Star."

5. Is Sadoski Involved in Activism?

Yes, Sadoski is very committed to helping causes around the world. In addition to being a board member of INARA, the actor is also an ambassador for War Child USA and War Child Canada. He is also on the advisory board for Fortify Rights (an org that defends human rights) and a board member emeritus for the non-profit Refugees International.

6. Will They Have More Kids?

Well, it’s not likely. At least according to Seyfried, who revealed that she doesn’t intend to have more children. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Seyfried got candid about the challenges of raising two kids, then added that she’s not up for having a third. When Colbert followed up with a question about whether she’d do a third sequel of Mamma Mia!, she responded, “Definitely a third Mamma Mia, definitely no third child.”

Guess we’ll be counting down the days until we get that third Mamma Mia! movie. But until then, we’ll settle for cute pics of Seyfried’s kids.

7. Does Sadoski Have Social Media?

Nope, Sadoski doesn’t have any social media. But, that hasn’t stopped Seyfried from posting fun and cute pictures of the pair on her own IG profile. Just the other day on Instagram, the Jennifer’s Body star shared a snap of her and her husband holding small kittens in their hands. “I met Tommy 8 years ago on this day for a play reading and remember feeling calm in a space that usually felt very vulnerable and scary,” she wrote in the caption. “He still has that effect two kids and 27 pets later.”
