Who Is Adam Driver’s Wife, Joanne Tucker? We Have Answers

Adam Driver won us over with his portrayal of a grieving divorcée named Charlie in Netflix’s Marriage Story, and this year, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for his comedic role in White Noise. But, while he’s widely recognized for his work on Girls and for playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise, we aren’t too familiar with the 39-year-old actor’s personal life—in particular, his other half, Joanne Tucker.

So, who is Adam Driver’s wife and how did they meet? Keep reading for everything we know about Joanne Tucker.

1. Who Is Adam Driver’s Wife, Joanne Tucker?

Tucker is an actress, who was born and raised in New York, and she's also the granddaughter of the late Bermudian politician Henry Tucker. She has starred in films like The Report, Give or Take, Listen Up Philip and Gayby. She also had guest cameos on a variety of TV shows, including HBO’s Girls (she played Driver’s wife in the play featured in season five, episode seven) and Showtime’s Billions. Most recently, she appeared in three episodes of the series American Rust.

Together, she and Driver co-founded the Arts in the Armed Forces (AITAF) charity, which helps active and retired military veterans around the world have access to theater.

2. How Did Adam & Joanne Meet?

The couple met while they were studying at the Juilliard School for Drama, though acting wasn’t Driver's original plan. In fact, the actor served in the Marine Corps for two years before he accidentally broke his collar bone, ultimately ending his tenure. Although he was crushed, the injury led him to pursue acting, meet Tucker and the rest is history.

3. When Did They Start Dating?

The spark between these two was almost immediate. According to Driver, he bonded with Tucker over her New Yorker personality. “She taught me what Gouda cheese is,” he told Broadway.com. “And that you shouldn’t talk with your mouth full and spit on the sidewalk.” Sounds like a match made in heaven.

4. When Did They Get Married?

Driver and Tucker tied the knot in 2013 in a super-secret destination wedding. Although we don’t know many details about the nuptials, the Star Wars actor previously revealed that it involved lots and lots of charcuterie. Oh, my Gouda!

5. Do They Have Any Children?

Driver and Tucker have an almost 3-year-old son, whose name has yet to be publicly revealed. We’re not surprised by the couple’s secrecy, since they hid the child’s existence for the first two years of his life. It wasn’t until Driver sat down for an interview with W Magazine and accidentally hinted he’s a father that we first learned about the news.

In February 2023, People and Page Six reported that the pair are expecting their second child, after Tucker was spotted showing off her baby bump in New York City.

6. Do They Have Any Pets?

The couple share a dog named Moose, who Driver adopted right before his 34th birthday.

During an interview with W Magazine, Driver jokingly said, “I look at my dog—it just sounds so absurd but it’s not—I don't know if I could love anything more. Like, I have a kid and maybe and be like meh, you know, but the dog.”

7. Does Tucker Have Any Social Media?

As of January 2023, Tucker does not have any public social media accounts, and neither does Driver. The Marriage Story actor commented on this to Vulture back in 2018, saying, “Social media, I don’t participate. I don’t have an opinion that it’s bad—or worse. You’re right that the existence of a public persona is an interesting thing, but I have no control over it so I don’t try to control it.”
