In the first season of her weekly podcast, Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson candidly discussed her breast cancer diagnosis, which she first learned about back in June of 2023. And now, the Duchess of York, 64, is opening up to us with an encouraging update after receiving a new skin cancer diagnosis.

On January 24, Ferguson was greeted by well-wishers after leaving King Edward VII’s Hospital in Marylebone, London, following a doctor’s appointment. As reported by the Daily Mirror, a royal admirer asked the duchess how she was feeling and she responded, “I’m fine, thank you.” In a series of photos shared by the news outlet (click here to see), the mother of two can be seen smiling and waving to fans outside the hospital as she leaves the facility.

In case you didn’t know, a spokesman for Ferguson revealed in a statement (obtained by People) on Sunday that she’s been diagnosed with skin cancer. The duchess recently went to a dermatologist to have some moles removed shortly after undergoing a single mastectomy. And when the test results came back from the exam, they were found to be cancerous. “Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” the rep said.

“The Duchess wants to thank the entire medical team which has supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was,” the statement continued. “She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma.”

Get well soon, Sarah.
