Age is really just a number for Queen Elizabeth.
The 94-year-old royal was spotted enjoying a horseback ride around the grounds of Windsor Castle over the weekend. The official Royal Family Instagram account shared photos of Her Majesty’s outing, featuring the queen riding a pony named Fern. For the occasion, the monarch looked equestrian chic in an olive suit-like jacket with a multi-colored headscarf. The post also contained some throwback photos of Liz and her horses.
“The Queen is pictured riding Fern—a 14-year-old Fell Pony—in Windsor Home Park this weekend,” the caption read. “Her Majesty has enjoyed riding since childhood and is closely involved with the welfare of the horses she owns for breeding, riding and racing.”
Elizabeth is no stranger to horses as she was given her first one (a Shetland pony) when she was just four years old. The monarch also attends the Windsor Horse Show annually and is known to get rather spirited when watching horse races. Unfortunately, this year’s event was canceled due to the current pandemic, but it seems like Her Majesty is celebrating in her own way.
Might we also remind you of her royal visit to Somerset in 2019 where she fed horses at the stables?
Clearly Queen Elizabeth isn’t giving up her love of riding horses anytime soon.
