In the video, Gaines, 46, dances around for a second before dropping to the floor to crank out sets of pushups—first on her hands as usual and then holding two dumbbells. She captioned the post, "For the first time in our marriage, Chip and I decided to work out together. We started working w/ our friend @donsaladino in September and when he asked me to do push-ups on our first day I said, 'I can't. My back.'"
She continues, "A few months in and I've never felt stronger. Today I did FIFTY push-ups! So I'm celebrating and putting this out there... I've let time, age, injury, and busyness be my excuse of why not to workout. I'm finally over the 'it's too hard' hump and I'm ready to go! Who's with me?!"
In case you weren't aware, that trainer she shouted out, Don Saladino, is best known for working with one Blake Lively for years. Saladino even shared a photo with Lively at the premiere of It Ends with Us and praised the actress's hard work and commitment.
But back to Gaines, whose followers were suitably impressed. Peloton instructor Rebecca Kennedy commented, "Heck yes!!! So strong—way to go!!!" while another fan (relatably) wrote, "If I did fifty pushups my arms would disintegrate. This is so impressive!" Even her trainer chimed in, "Jo I couldn’t be any more proud. Let’s keep it going! Love you both."
