Disney movies are famous for glamorizing fairytale meet-cutes, like when Cinderella loses her shoe at the ball and forces Prince Charming to track her down. Most people would never find themselves in this situation IRL. Well, except for Prince Christian of Denmark, who recently experienced a real-life Cinderella moment.
Denmark’s Prince Christian Experiences Real-Life Cinderella Moment After Guest Leaves Single Shoe at His Birthday Gala
Cue the Fairy Godmother
Last month, the prince hosted his 18th birthday party at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. The day after the gala, the Danish royal family posted a follow-up photo on Instagram and explained that one of the guests left behind a single heel at the ball. (Sound familiar?)
The translated caption read, “Is it Cinderella who forgot her shoe last night?”
It continued, “When the guests at Her Majesty the Queen's gala dinner yesterday had gone home, this lonely stiletto shoe was left at Christiansborg Castle. The owner is welcome to contact us to get it back.”
The gold heel stood at about three inches high, and it featured a strappy design that is secured at the ankle. The question is: How—and why—did it get left behind?
Perhaps someone took off their heels while dancing, misplaced them and then left with only one shoe. Or maybe the person brought a change of shoes and accidentally left with only one of their heels because they were no longer wearing them. Or maybe someone wanted an excuse to return to the castle, so they left behind a personal belonging that would need to be retrieved.
Fingers crossed the Danish royal family provides an update on whether the shoe was claimed, because we’re officially invested.
