When we heard that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping down from their role as senior members of the royal family, we were frankly shook. How will we quench our royal thirst now? Thankfully, there was one aspect of their formal announcement that got us thinking this won’t be the last we see of them.
In their joint statement, shared via their @SussexRoyal Instagram account, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said they intend to “become financially independent.” Since they won’t be working members of the royal family, it makes sense that their spending money would no longer come from Prince Charles’s Duchy of Cornwall, but their own wallets. But what does that mean? Honestly, we’re hoping it means the 38-year-old Duchess of Sussex may return to acting.
Prior to joining the royal family, Markle starred on the hit series Suits. Since she and her 35-year-old husband will now be in search of new work, it may make sense for her to return to the screen.
Myka Meier, royal expert and author of Modern Etiquette Made Easy, agrees. She chatted exclusively with PureWow when the news broke, and, like us, was curious to know if Markle will get back in the acting game.
