Mandy Moore Shares Adorable Video of “Rockstar” Son​​ on Instagram

Looks like actress Mandy Moore may have an aspiring musician on her hands. 

Earlier this week, the This Is Us star, 40, posted a sweet video of her oldest son, Gus, rocking out on the guitar. While standing in front of a microphone propped up on a windowsill, the 3-year-old channels his inner rockstar as strums a few notes on the guitar. 

A caption written on top of the video read, “Gus put the mic up on the windowsill himself so he could play and sing. He also announced to everyone at the park that he was the real “Com Petty…” (We’ve told him it’s Tom Petty but [shrugs emoji]). I’m not sure where he learned the rocking out face but I have a sneaking suspicion it’s from @taylordawesgoldsmith.” This is so cute.

Moore also wrote in the caption, “Gus is entering his rockstar era [guitar emoji].”

We’re not surprised to see that Gus has already shown an interest in music. After all, his mom is Mandy Moore, who was once a teenage pop star. Moore first made her splash onto the music scene in 1999 with her debut single “Candy.” Though her music career was short-lived, the former teenage idol has expressed interest in returning to music in the future—and it’s all thanks to her two sons, Gus and Ozzie. 

In July 2023, the A Walk to Remember alum sat down with People and shared how motherhood has inspired her to make music again. “I feel like having kids has really made me think about making cool music for them one of these days,” the soon-to-be mom of three said at the time. "I don't know if that would be original songs or covering songs.”
