Lady Louise Windsor Just Pulled a Will & Kate: Here's How Prince Edward's Daughter Is Copying the Cambridges

It's official: Lady Louise Windsor—the 18-year-old granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex—is university-bound. But her choice of school rings extra familiar for her cousin Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. She's heading to St. Andrew's in Scotland this fall, the Cambridges' alma matter where they just so happened to meet and fall in love.

On this week's episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast (listen here!), my co-host Roberta Fiorito and I discuss Louise's choice. The statement from Buckingham Palace confirming her decision this week read: "Having received her A Level results today, Lady Louise will start at St. Andrews University in September to study English."

Let's roll back the clock for a sec: It was 2001 when Kate and William first kicked off their experience at St. Andrew's. As fate would have it, they were placed in the same dormitory at the start of their undergraduate careers and, after bumping into each other in a stairwell, the pair became fast friends. Of course, things turned romantic after William saw Kate participate in a fashion show for charity in 2002. He was said to have confessed his feelings for her later that night. One major pro about St. Andrew's: It's remoteness. Lady Louise will very likely experience a life there that's out of the public eye, just as her cousin Prince William did. Lately, she's been popping up at more public royal occasions like the Queen's Jubilee celebrations and the Commonwealth Games, where she was seated with her family, but also William and Kate.

Did Will & Kate send her some school merch to congratulate her on her acceptance? Will she meet her future partner at St. Andrew's, too? (Royal) time will tell.
