Kensington Palace is giving a much-needed, off-the-books update about Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Earlier this morning, the Prince of Wales, 41, was scheduled to attend a service for the late King Constantine of the Hellenes at St George’s Chapel in London. However, per Hello! Magazine, Kensington Palace revealed that the royal dad of three was unable to attend the event due to a “personal matter.” (FYI, Prince William also contacted the family of Constantine to apologize for his inability to attend last minute.)

An insider from the palace also took an opportunity to share a rare update with the outlet about the Princess of Wales, 42, who has been recovering after undergoing abdominal surgery back in January. Following Prince William’s unexpected absence from the church service, some royally-obsessed fans started to speculate the “personal matter” had something to do with the condition of Princess Catherine. But the insider from the palace reassured well-wishers that she “continues to be doing well.”

After Catherine was discharged from The London Clinic and sent home from her surgery, the Princess of Wales was initially recovering at Windsor Castle. But according to an exclusive report by The Daily Mail on February 9, the Princess of Wales departed from Adelaide Cottage for the first time to continue her recuperation at Anmer Hall, which is the Norfolk home she shares with her husband.

Per the report, she was joined by her husband and their three kids, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. A source told The Daily Mail, “Catherine is recovering well. She was looking forward to a change of scene and will be able to take it easy in Norfolk while the children let off steam with William.” It is now expected, however, that she has likely returned to Windsor.

Glad to hear you’re doing well, Princess Catherine.
