In the clip, Seacrest begins by asking Echard why he told three women he loves them. “In the world of dating, saying ‘I love you’ to three women at the same time seems to be a bad idea,” Seacrest says.
Echard laughs before explaining that he never meant to fall for multiple people, saying, “It’s something that I told myself I wouldn’t do and, of course, whenever I say absolutes, they end up just coming back and kicking me in the rear.”
When the co-hosts grill the new Bachelor on why he used the L-word, Echard responds, “Listen, I said things that I said because I felt it. I realized I was holding back my feelings because I was trying to protect myself.”
When Ripa asks if he’s still in three relationships, Echard avoids the question. He concludes by admitting that he takes full responsibility for the drama that ensued. “I knew that those conversations were not going to be ones where I’d get a nice pat on the back, like, ‘Thanks, pal. You’re so great for telling me that,’” he says. “I knew it was coming.”
Well, at least he’s honest.
