Leave it to Keanu Reeves to save the day—both on- and off-screen.

This week, Sandra Bullock attended a special 30th-anniversary screening of Speed with her former co-star, Reeves, and explained how he saved her from having a Marilyn Monroe moment during one of the stunts on set. She recalled the intense scene where she and Reeves had to quickly evacuate a moving, bomb-rigged bus by using a floor hatch—all while wearing a dress.

Per Entertainment Weekly, she said, "I had this dress that was very light and I had a bodysuit underneath, and when we started rehearsing I noticed that the velocity of air would shoot the skirt over my head. So Keanu's job for me, which was the most important thing, was to [place his] hand in a way where the skirt doesn't fly over my head."

Bullock added, "Not only did he have to do the stunt [and] to keep me safe, he had to keep my integrity intact, keeping things that didn't need to be seen on a 17-foot screen."

Naturally, Reeves delivered a captivating performance and handled everything like a pro—so much so that one would never guess he was trying to prevent a wardrobe mishap. Also, director Jan de Bont, who joined both actors for the screening, revealed that Reeves and Bullock's solid chemistry played a big role in the movie's success.

He said, "The relationship that these two created together is absolutely amazing. Seeing them back on the screen tonight, it was so realistic. They were absolutely perfect. All the emotions were right, all the laughing was right, all the smiling, the little smooching. It was really, really cool."

The 1994 action thriller grossed a whopping $350.4 million at the box office and won two Academy Awards for Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Sound. It also led to a sequel called Speed 2: Cruise Control, where Bullock reprised her role as Annie. However, it wasn't as successful as the first film—partly because Reeves didn't return. Still, Reeves gets major props for delivering one of his best performances (and looking out for Bullock while he's at it).

Now, excuse me while I go watch Speed for the millionth time.
