It’s been six months since Kate Middleton revealed to the world in March that she’d been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. Now, in a new three-minute long video shared on social media, the Princess of Wales has officially announced that she has completed treatment and will be focusing—with the support of her husband, Prince William, and her kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—on staying cancer-free in the days ahead.

The video, which was filmed last week in Norfolk, shows Kate with her entire family out in nature—in the woods, at the beach, enjoying a picnic—during the final days of summer. Kate narrates it with an update about her cancer journey: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she says. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

The Princess of Wales goes on to discuss how difficult the cancer journey is for everyone, not just for the person undergoing treatment, but those who are closest to you, too. She adds, “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”

As for what lies ahead, Kate makes it clear that her journey is still ongoing. “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Althought I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”

As reports swirl that the Princess of Wales will be back this autumn for Remembrance Day and has begun the planning to host her annual carol concert at Christmas, Kate also confirms—in her own words—that she is looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements when she can in the coming months.

This video announcement marks a significant turning point during what has been a rocky year for the royal family—not just for Kate, but for King Charles, who has simultaneously been undergoing his own cancer battle. Neither have revealed the type of cancer they have.

As Kate describes, her health and making a full recovery remains a top priority, but this is a milestone moment—and one we could not be more relieved to hear.
