Jennifer Garner Makes Shocking Makeup Confession (and Shares Photo Evidence): ‘It’s So, So Bad’

From non-negotiable skincare products to anti-aging secrets, I’m not afraid to take beauty advice from Jennifer Garner. But apparently she’s had struggles in the past when it comes to makeup.

Last month, the Alias star, 52, appeared on an episode of the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, which is co-hosted by Molly Sims and Emese Gormley. While discussing beauty, Garner revealed that she only knows the basics (especially when it comes to cosmetics). In fact, the actress admitted that the worst beauty advice she ever received came from—drumroll, please—herself. 

“I didn’t have to receive it,” she said. “I am my own worst beauty advice.”

Garner went on to explain that when she was a teen, her only experience with makeup was the stage. As a result, she used her stage makeup (which is very heavy and thick to counteract the intense lighting) for her everyday cosmetics. “If you look at any pictures of me, all the way through college, if I have makeup on, I wore my theater makeup,” she added.

Garner revealed that the makeup was way too pale for her skin tone, so it resembled ghost-like face paint (especially in flash photos). “It was pancake makeup on my face,” she joked. “I have a white circle. It’s so bad. It’s so, so bad.”
