It’s tried-and-true

To some, having your home featured in Architectural Digest is the ultimate sign you've "made it." Countless celebs have had their abodes showcased, with the latest being Jennifer Garner, for the magazine's October cover story.

But let’s be real—Garner had already made it long before this feature, and her home just adds to that. And while it's true that most of us aren’t dropping millions on a house, we can still take decorating tips from these celeb spaces. Case in point: Garner used a foolproof trick throughout her home to achieve a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe.

What's the formula, you ask? PureWow's VP of Editorial Content and resident home expert Candace Davison notes that in multiple rooms throughout the house, we see Garner embracing warm wood + color pulled from her backyard + nod to nature. The result is a peaceful sanctuary that brings the outside in and doesn't sacrifice on style.

Davison also notes that Garner is definitely leaning into the organic modernism trend, while also pulling from the rustic farmhouse/vintage eclectic theme we've been seeing across our Pinterest boards.

In a sneak peek from the feature, we see a bedroom that embodies this tried-and-true formula. The bed rests on a dark wooden frame, topped with navy-blue sheets and pillows. On the wall adjacent? A large abstract art piece showcasing trees, pulling even more of that natural feel indoors. A vase of pink flowers (probably from her very own impressive garden) adds a perfect pop of color to the room, softening the overall look. Similarly, in Garner's dining room we see a solid wood table take center stage in the room that has been painted in a soothing green tone (one that is reminiscent of the pine trees we see in her backyard here), with images of butterflies and flowers on the wall.

Garner shared her design goals in the photo caption, saying, "I wanted it to feel old and cool and historic, but I also wanted to make it work for a big family with a lot of things going on."

According to Architectural Digest, Garner’s L.A. retreat—designed by architect-interior duo Steve Giannetti and Brooke Giannetti, alongside Laura Putnam—is "a dexterous blend of farmhouse charm and contemporary comfort, one that prioritizes togetherness, usefulness, and down-to-earth living." Think: practical enough for muddy feet trekking in from the vegetable patch and cozy enough for all those impromptu living room dance parties.

In true Jennifer Garner style, her home is down-to-earth and family-friendly, perfectly balancing rustic vibes with modern living.

“It’s a thoughtfully designed haven that defies Hollywood stereotypes—just like Garner herself,” the magazine's caption concluded.

In another post featuring Garner’s home viewers get a full glimpse of the pool, which we know it was the ultimate summer hangout spot for her family. (Um, feel free to invite us over anytime Jen, OK?)
