Hello, nostalgia

Jennifer Garner is bringing back the 13 Going on 30 magic for Halloween.

In a playful Instagram clip shared on Wednesday, Garner channeled her character Jenna Rink from the iconic rom-com. Set to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” (yep, the same song from the film), Garner playfully applies lip gloss, powder and eyeliner—complete with glasses for precision, of course.

She then hilariously checks out a pair of Spanx before debuting Jenna’s colorful party dress. But this time, Garner trades Jenna’s blue heels for something comfier: white socks, pink sneakers and a gray crossbody. And yes, she even wore that famous butterfly necklace Jenna rocked in the movie.

“Happy 20th Halloween, Jenna Rink,” Garner captioned her post.

The comments section immediately filled with love and nostalgia. “The glasses putting on the eyeliner is the best,” one fan wrote. Another commented, "This is the GREATEST," while another requested, “Now we just need the Thriller dance!”

This Halloween throwback isn’t Garner’s first time recreating moments from the beloved 2004 film. Garner’s been all about 13 Going on 30 throwbacks this year (the film turned 20 in April). Earlier this year, she reunited with co-stars Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer for a sweet Zoom call reminiscing on the film. And back in February, she and Ruffalo recreated their iconic "Thriller" dance scene when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

And, if you want to go back even a little further, she celebrated the film's 15th anniversary back in 2019 when she shared a few clips from the film along with a side by side before-and-afters of the young women she worked with on set.

“The movie benefitted from the performances of so many young actresses. Open and twinkly-magical then— now, 15 years later, they are ruling the world. (Hi #SixChicks—@brielarson, @ashleybenson, @christabrittany—who also played a young me in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past—and my own sweet @revjuliaroth),” she wrote at the time.
