The votes have been counted!

Last night, the remaining three contestants took center stage in hopes of being crowned the next American Idol in the season 22 finale. Though longtime fans of the singing competition show had to bid a final farewell to judge Katy Perry (who announced that this season would sadly be her last back in February), viewers eagerly watched to see who would take home the title. So, who emerged victorious?

After Jack Blocker was eliminated, it came down to the final two: Will Moseley and Abi Carter. And after the votes were tallied, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that the winner is...Abi Carter!

While Carter blew the judges and audience away with several memorable performances last night, the 21-year-old singer really made an everlasting impression when she took center stage to sing her original song as well as Bon Jovi’s “Bed of Roses.”

After winning the competition, Carter spoke with Entertainment Tonight and shared how she’s still processing her victory. “I think it didn’t feel real until coming on this carpet and then talking with people has made me feel real again. This has meant the world to me,” she told the outlet.

Carter also celebrated her win on social media, where she posted an array of photos taken from the moment she was named the next American Idol. In the caption of the Instagram post, she wrote, “HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE!??!?!?!? I couldn’t have imagined winning #americanidol when I started this whole journey.”

She continued, “I’m just a girl from Indio, who used to sing on street corners, and now I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to work with some of the most talented people in the industry and be heard by millions of people. This is my dream and I know it's just the beginning. I love you all so much. #idol.”

Congralutations, Abi.
