If you’re anything like us, the holiday season is synonymous with two things: watching cheesy Christmas movies (for the 67th time) and spending time in the kitchen with family. We know you already have your yearly lineup—Aunt Barbara’s brussel sprouts, Dad’s ricotta gnocchi, Mom’s snowball cookies—and we would never suggest you break your traditions…but surely you can make room for one (or two) more recipes?
Why you ask? Well, Tia Mowry’s teamed up with Kroger on TikTok Live to show us how to make two of her family’s favorite holiday dishes: Braised Collard Greens and Make-Ahead Garlic Mashed Potatoes. During the event, Tia—along with her extra special sous chef (her Dad!)—talked about how meals have the power to transport to some of their happiest memories with loved ones. These two recipes in particular were passed down from generation to generation, all the way back to Tia’s great-grandmother.
“I look forward to the holidays because it’s a time we’re all able to be together,” she says. “And now I can pass these recipes along to my kids, Cree and Cairo.”
Take a peek at snippet from the live (dinner snafus happen to all of us, folks). You can also save both recipes below, and don’t forget to stop by Kroger to pick up ingredients for all your holiday meals.
