Welp, it’s not even showtime and we’re already ready to crown the winner of the wildest red carpet look at the 76th Annual Emmy Awards tonight. Drum roll please...why, it’s none other than RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Nymphia Wind. (By the way, the series is nominated for an Emmy tonight in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category.)
And the Award for Wildest Emmys Red Carpet Look Goes to…

So, what made her look such a stand-out? Mainly, the fact that it nods to the grand entrance she made on Drag Race—arriving in the workroom of season 16 and slipping on a banana peel. Yep, Wind’s look is a full-blown banana costume. She even took to Instagram Stories ahead of her arrival to tease the ensemble, captioning the post, “Forgot to do my makeup...”.
But truly, this look is not only a showstopper, it’s full of drama, too, giving the appearance of actually being peeled from a banana. Brava.
Don’t get us wrong—the night is young and there is still plenty of opportunity for another nominee, celeb, even an influencer to swoop in and steal the show. But we were floored by the creativity and effort made by Wind right out of the gate.
Our bet? It’s a look that will be pretty impossible to top.
