Ever since Netflix announced the release date for Virgin River season five (FYI, it’s September 7), we’ve been asking ourselves the same question: When will we get a glimpse of the new episodes? Well, that day has finally come.

This week, Netflix released the first official trailer for part one of Virgin River season five. As expected, the new installment will pick up right where the previous one ended—with Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) preparing to welcome a baby.

The trailer begins with a cheesy exchange between Mel and Jack. “You’re gonna be a fantastic father,” she says. “You might even be better than me at it.”

The clip goes on to show how Mel’s pregnancy is affecting her daily life—in particular, her career. “It makes sense to prioritize my high-risk pregnancy and my family over my job,” she adds.

Suddenly, the trailer takes a dark turn. The chaos begins when a wildfire threatens the town of Virgin River, forcing residents to prepare for the worst. Despite the drama, there’s one thing that remains: community.

“Real heroes are the ones with the courage to do what’s right, who walk toward the things most people would run away from,” Brie (Zibby Allen) says in a voiceover. “They’re the people who push past their fears, who face the unknown, hold on to their faith even when the deck is stacked against them. That’s the power of Virgin River.”

Excuse us while we rewatch Virgin River from the very beginning in anticipation of September 7.
