Kerry Washington Stars in Powerful New Trailer for Netflix’s ‘The Six Triple Eight’

First, Kerry Washington stole my heart as a badass problem solver in Scandal. Then, she portrayed an enigmatic single mother in Little Fires Everywhere. And now, the 47-year-old actress is returning to the small screen for what looks like an award-winning performance. 

Netflix recently dropped the full-length trailer for its upcoming World War II drama, The Six Triple Eight. The film is not only written and directed by Tyler Perry, but it also stars Washington in a powerful role that screams “Oscar nominee.”

The Six Triple Eight is inspired by Kevin M. Hymel’s article “Fighting a Two-Front War,” and it depicts the true story of the first and only all-female Army Corps unit: the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion.

The trailer introduces viewers to Captain Charity Adams (Washington), who’s determined to lead her unit to victory. “Soldiers, we have been ordered to provide hope,” she says in the clip. The video goes on to show a montage of scenes featuring the women marching into battle.
