1. What Is Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story About?

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a spin-off show that’s inspired by the popular series Bridgerton. Instead of focusing on the Bridgerton siblings, the new project dives into the life of Queen Charlotte and offers a rare glimpse of her origin story. In particular, it focuses on her marriage to King George and how the Ton came to be.

Netflix announced the spin-off series last year on its official Twitter account, writing, “All Hail The Queen! Thrilled to announce we’re expanding the Bridgerton universe with a limited series that will tell Queen Charlotte’s origin story—the series will also feature young Violet Bridgerton and young Lady Danbury.”

2. Has It Started Production?

Luckily, the answer is yes. Netflix previously released a first-look photo of Lady Danbury (played by Arsema Thomas). “This is the year you find friends who fix your crown. Introducing @arsemathomas as Young Lady Danbury in #QueenCharlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” the caption read. “Coming to @netflix in 2023.” Netflix also debuted a glimpse of Corey Mylchreest’s character, King George (see above).

3. Who Stars in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story?

The new show features several familiar faces, like Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton). Newcomers include India Amarteifio (Young Queen Charlotte), Corey Mylchreest (Young King George), Michelle Fairley (Princess Augusta) and Arsema Thomas (Young Agatha Danbury).

4. Is There a Trailer?

Netflix just released an official teaser for the new spin-off series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The beginning of the trailer focuses on Charlotte and her lack of interest in becoming royal. “Charlotte, there are worse fates than marrying the King of England,” someone says.

It doesn’t take long for Charlotte to realize that she’s expected to do as the royal family says, from bearing children to uniting alliances. The question is: How can she love someone she doesn’t know?

“I realize you have no reason to like me,” King George says. “But if you will give me one evening of your time, it might make you hate me a little bit less.”

When Charlotte learns that King George is keeping a secret, she takes matters into her own hands by carving her own path within the monarchy.

5. What About a Teaser?

The short teaser starts with a young Queen Charlotte overcome with nerves. Viewers also have a chance to see sparks fly between the queen and the ever-so-charming King George when they meet for the first time.

“I am George,” the young king says to the monarch, who returns the greeting with a smile.

And what comes next is a journey through Queen Charlotte’s rise to power, her love life with the king and so much more. “This is my home,” she says at the end of the teaser. “I am the queen.”

6. Does It Have a Premiere Date?

Toward the end of the official teaser, Netflix revealed that the new spin-off series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, will debut on the streaming service on May 4, 2023. Now, if you will excuse us, we have to go circle the date on our calendars.

7. Are There Any Exclusive Photos?

Why yes, there are. Along with the first-look teaser, Netflix released additional never-before-seen photos from the spin-off. In one of the photos—shown above—King George is gesturing for Queen Charlotte to take his hand and she appears hesitant (something which seems quite of out character to those who know the queen from the OG series).
