I've had a small obsession with Mike Colter ever since I watched him play a bulletproof superhero in Marvel's Luke Cage. (I mean, I can never resist a smart alpha male character who's actually thoughtful.) So, when I caught wind of his supernatural drama, Evil, in 2020, I made a mental note to check out the series.
Fast-forward to the present day and, I'll confess, I still have not watched a single episode. Why, you ask? Because I am a total wimp when it comes to nightmare-worthy shows about demons. But now that the popular series is dominating on Netflix—landing at number eight on the streaming service's top ten most-watched shows, to be exact—I'm starting to think that watching this show just might be worth the risk.
In case you're unfamiliar with the plot, Evil follows Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), a forensic psychologist who teams up with David Acosta (Colter), a Catholic priest in training, to investigate a series of mysterious paranormal occurrences. We're talking evil bugs, bizarre hallucinations and demon possession.
