The New ‘Home Alone’ Movie Looks Just Like the Original—But With One Surprising Twist

It’s rare that a remake lives up to expectations (looking at you, He’s All That), so let’s hope this brand-new Home Alone movie is an exception.

Disney+ just released the first official trailer for the latest reimagination of the popular ’90s franchise, titled Home Sweet Home Alone.

The teaser re-introduces viewers to the classic story line, which follows a family who’s in such a rush to leave for vacation, they leave behind one of their kids: Max (Archie Yates).

“Twas the night before Christmas vacation and the fun was in full swing,” the narrator says in the clip. “The family left for their family vacation, but forgot one little thing…”

At first, Max is thrilled by the independence, saying, “My mom and dad have gone to Tokyo. I’m totally on my own.”

His parents, on the other hand, are baffled by their own aloofness. “You do realize my 10-year-old son is at home by himself,” the mom says. “You just assumed Max was on the other flight.” To which the dad responds, “We didn’t take a census.”

However, in this version, there is one surprising twist: The burglars are a husband-wife duo (Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney), who have no idea what they’re in for.

Other cast members include Aisling Bea, Kenan Thompson, Tim Simons, Pete Holmes, Devin Ratray, Ally Maki and Chris Parnell.

Home Sweet Home Alone will premiere on November 12 on Disney+. Who’s ready?
