It was just this May that Amazon had techies rejoicing over its newly revealed Echo Pop speaker (normally $40), which was included in a larger line of Echo devices. Not only is it small space-friendly (seriously, it's compact enough that you could stash it atop your summer reading list), but it's also unbelievably affordable. That's especially true now that there's an Echo pop sale happening ahead of Amazon Prime Day 2023, which has lowered the price of this must-have device to as low as $18.

Just to put that into perspective, that's more than 50 percent off, making it one of the best early Prime Day deals you can take advantage of before the main event kicks off for Prime members on July 11 (which you can read all about here).

This smart speaker packs a ton of function into its compact size. Of course, it's Alexa-compatible, so you can easily "Ask Alexa" to have it help you complete any task, from playing music and audiobooks to checking the weather and even re-ordering your most-used supplies.

Beyond that, it can be connected to your smart home devices to control your power and lighting. The device itself is available to purchase with a smart bulb for an additional $1 and it comes in four colors to match your decor.

Most importantly, however, the Echo Pop speaker effortlessly connects to your phone through Bluetooth to play your favorite songs on most music apps, from Apple Music to Spotify. Sound wise, reviewers say the audio seems more directional (think: similar to a megaphone), so it'll easily fill the room and will sound crystal clear.

One reviewer writes, "Sound is loud and not too vibration-heavy...Alexa responds quickly and accurately. All and all, this is a good upgrade to the regular Echo."

Oh, and last but very not least, it has a low-power mode that reduces energy consumption when it's not in use, essentially lowering the device's electricity usage (and possibly your electric bill), according to the brand.

Amazon

Truth be told, this may be the best early Prime Day deal you can snag before Tuesday, though there are many other Amazon devices up for grabs for less, not limited to the Fire TV Stick 4K ($23) that boasts an ultra-vibrant picture for the streaming-obsessed.

In addition, Amazon's latest Echo Show 5 (originally $90, now $45), the third generation of the small smart display device that features deeper base and clearer sound, is on sale for a steal. There's also the second generation Echo Buds (originally $80, now $50), which are equipped with features like noise cancelation and audio personalization.

We can't wait to fill our own small spaces with the clear, bold sounds of our favorite summer jams (or, OK, maybe that latest true crime podcast) while asking Alexa to order us some snacks—and if this sounds like your ideal weekend afternoon, you might want to snag one for yourself.
