Echo Dot 5th Gen new amazon devices october 2022
Amazon

This new and improved Echo Dot has all the same features as previous models, but with some important upgrades for an even better user experience. The speaker system has been updated for a clearer, fuller sound (making this the best-sounds Echo Dot to date) and the LED display has also been enhanced to more clearly display information like the time, weather reports or the name of the song you’re rocking out to. There’s also a brand-new temperature sensor which can be linked to a smart thermostat to automatically regulate the temperature in your home. (The 5th Gen Echo Dot is now available for pre-order and will begin shipping on October 20.)

The kid-friendly version of the Echo Dot has also been given a bit of a face lift—somewhat literally, given the two adorable animal face designs, an owl and a dragon, for your kid to choose between. It comes pre-loaded with age-appropriate content, like filtering out explicit songs and providing kid-friendly responses to Alexa inquiries, and also gives parents the option to set and change limits as they please. It also comes with all the same tech improvements as the regular Echo Dot above. You can pre-order the Echo Dot (5th Gen) Kids now before its official release on October 20.

Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED Series new amazon devices october 2022
Amazon

Also available for pre-order (with a release date of October 27) is Amazon’s newest smart TV, the Fire TV Omni QLED Series. Screen sizes come in 65 inches and 75 inches, and both are built with a QLED 4K display and advanced HDR—which, for the non-tech fluent among us, basically means the Fire TV has top-of-the-line color display for a brighter, richer, more dynamic view that also adjusts to fit the time of day. Or, to put it another way, you’ll be able to see all the details even in the darkest scenes of The Rings of Power, even if you’re watching on a sunny afternoon. The new model also comes with the option to turn on ambient mode, which can display photos, artwork or the time to brighten up your room even when you’re not watching shows.

Amazon

Want to upgrade your TV viewing experience even further? Add a Fire TV Cube to cart alongside your Fire TV. The Cube is basically a turbo-charged Fire Stick and allows you to switch between all your favorite streaming services quickly and easily either by using the included remote or with new and improved hands-free Alexa voice control. This new version also has improved front-facing speakers for better overall sound and six ports to connect compatible devices or an ethernet cord. The official release date is October 25, but you can also pre-order now to beat the rush.

Alexa Voice Remote Pro new amazon devices october 2022
Amazon

For a more budget-friendly alternative, consider the Alexa Voice Remote Pro. It comes with backlit buttons (so you can more easily adjust the volume in the dark) and two customizable buttons (so you can create shortcuts to open your most-used apps without navigating back to a home screen). But perhaps our favorite feature is the lost remote finder. Simply call out “Alexa, find my remote” and the Amazon assistant will trigger the remote to make a sound alerting you to its exact position deep within your couch cushions. You can also use the remote to ask Alexa to turn on your TV, adjust the volume and navigate to different streaming services if you don’t feel like actually digging through the couch even though you now know exactly where the remote is buried. Honestly, it sounds like a lazy Sunday binge-watcher’s dream. Pre-order now for delivery on November 16.

Ring Spotlight Cam Plus and Ring Spotlight Cam Pro new amazon devices october 2022
Amazon

Amazon has an impressive array of home security devices, but we love the newest Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (pre-order now for delivery on October 26) for its sleek, minimalist design to appear less obvious on your front porch or garage door. In addition to the obvious pluses—motion-activated LED lights, 1080p HD video and color night vision—it also allows for two-way talk so you can let the UPS delivery person know you’re making your way to the door now, please don’t leave, I don’t want to have to reschedule this delivery! Or, you know, just letting your sister know you’ll let her in in a minute. You can also link the camera to other Ring cameras as well as other Alexa-enabled devices to build a whole system around your house to give your more peace of mind.

It is larger than the classic Kindle, to feel more like real paper, with a 10.2-inch screen. You can also choose between a Basic or Premium pen, which has a dedicated erased and shortcut button and costs $30 more.

Amazon

10. Halo Rise

Amazon

Introducing Amazon’s very first bedside sleep tracker/wake-up light. The Halo Rise uses no-contact sensors to detect when you hit the hay, when you actually fall asleep, how restful that sleep is and more all from your nightstand—no bulky wearables required. It will also help you rise and start your day in a more natural way with gradual brightening to mimic sunrise. You can then track and analyze all the data on the Halo app. When you order the Halo Rise it automatically comes with a six-month free trial of a Halo app membership, which gives you even more information and data to comb through. (P.S. A membership is not required in order to use the Halo Rise or Halo app and costs $4 per month after the six-month trial.)
