Two Words: Automatic Doors

Between school pick-ups, grocery runs and weekend soccer practices, luxury is not something we’re particularly accustomed to in our daily lives. We typically view cars as more utilitarian—a means to get from here to there, safely and efficiently.

That is, until we sat in the new all-electric 2024 BMW i7.

You guys, this vehicle is beyond. We got to test-drive the luxury sedan during our time at Gallery Art House in Miami and let’s just say, it makes running a quick errand the most VIP experience of your life. Here are three major features that will truly blow you away.

1. Automatic Doors

A door might be just another mundane feature in most cars, but not in the 2024 BMW i7. At the press of a button, the doors in the BMW i7 will open and close (provided the way is clear). To ensure safety, no fewer than 12 ultrasound sensors are mounted on the side of the car and can detect objects up to one meter away from the doors. Rumor has it that BMW plans to roll out an additional method—using the My BMW App from a smartphone to open and close the doors while sitting outside the i7. It will also be possible to do it through voice commands or by using the iDrive while sitting inside the car. (Whoa.)

2. On-the-Go Theater Experience

It might seem too good to be true, but the back portion of the i7 can truly convert into a personal movie theater. The back row seats can fully lie flat; automatic shades give viewers movie theater-esque lighting, and a 31-inch TV screen fills the length of the vehicle. Along with the theater, every feature of the i7 is catered to this experience. The dashboard features an Interaction Bar with ambient lighting, speakers are located in each of the headrests and a personal remote and phone charger is located in each seat back.

Oh, and there’s also an available Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof. The range of ambient lights and colors give you a truly unbelievable experience in controlling the mood and vibes within the sedan’s large interior. Long drives have never been better.

3. Smooth (and Fast!) Ride

All of the incredible entertainment and interior options in the i7 are just the tip of the iceberg. The car also boasts all-wheel drive, 650 maximum horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The BMW i7 M60, specifically, is the fastest all-electric BMW M ever made, with dual electric motors and Power Boost to propel you forward at extraordinary speed. As for how far a single charge gets you? Pretty darn far. The BMW i7 xDrive60 boasts an estimated electric range of up to 318 miles, while the BMW i7 eDrive50 will get you up to 321 miles.
