It’s safe to say that Usher’s 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show did not disappoint.

Today, Super Bowl LVIII took place at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium, where the San Francisco 49ers faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs. While the media is obsessing over Taylor Swift’s not-so-surprising appearance at the game (looking at you, Travis Kelce), we can’t stop thinking about Usher’s nostalgic—and star-studded—performance.

During the performance, Usher brought out several special guests, including Alicia Keys, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris.

This was Usher’s first time headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Although he made a guest appearance during the Black Eyed Peas performance at Super Bowl XLV, he’s never had complete control over the set list…until now.

The star-studded performance shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to music fans. Usher, 45, previously confirmed that he was enlisting “special guests” for the show. He also revealed that he struggled with the set list because there were so many songs to choose from, including tracks from his latest album, Coming Home

“It will definitely be an event,” he told Billboard. “There are special guests. And I’ve considered new songs. But you know, it’s 12 to 15 minutes. So it’s really hard to determine what moment matters more than others, especially with a new song. But there’s the dance, the wardrobe, the lighting, how long you stay in a song, the fact that the audience may sing along… It’s a lot. So I’m trying my hardest not to overthink it.”

Usher also revealed that he received advice from former Super Bowl Halftime performers. “I’ve happened to be around a few people who’ve played the Super Bowl, and they did give me some pointers,” he added. “I also happened to be on a boat not too long ago with Katy Perry, who gave me some notes.”
