Grab the tissues, ladies and gents, because Reese Witherspoon’s latest book recommendation is a total tearjerker

This week, Witherspoon announced her May pick for Reese’s Book Club: How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang. The actress, 48, shared a slideshow of photos on Instagram to announce the exciting news.

The caption read, “Our May @reesesbookclub pick is here! #HowToEndALoveStory by @yulin.kuang is about what happens when two writers with a complicated history end up working on the same TV show... but can they re-write their story? Check out this Reese’s Book Club pick wherever you get your favorite reads!”

Witherspoon also included a disclaimer about the book’s heavy themes. “*Author’s Note: This story contains on-the-page discussions of complicated grief, suicide loss, and the death of a sibling,” she added.

How to End a Love Story follows a best-selling author named Helen, who becomes reacquainted with an old friend, Grant, after years of no contact. Although both have tried to move on from the past, they’re forced to revisit the tragic accident that solidified their bond years ago.

In addition to being an author, Kuang is also an accomplished screenwriter (People We Meet on Vacation) and director (Beach Read).

This isn’t the first time that Witherspoon has shared a book recommendation on Instagram. Last month, the Morning Show star posted details about her April book pick for Reese’s Book Club: The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo, which is a multi-generational story that focuses on four daughters whose biggest fear is never finding a relationship that’s as strong as their parents.
