Buckingham Palace Issues Surprise Health Update on Queen Camilla 2 Weeks After She Misses Kate Middleton Event

According to the statement from the palace, "Following a recent chest infection, the Queen continues to experience some lingering post-viral symptoms, as a result of which doctors have advised that, after a busy week of engagements, Her Majesty should prioritize sufficient rest."

The message continued, "With great regret, she has therefore withdrawn from attendance at tonight’s Royal Variety Performance. His Majesty will attend as planned."

Though a health update is usually rare, this particular one probably does sound familiar as it is the same condition Queen Camilla was battling earlier this month when she dropped out of Remembrance Day appearances. At the time, the palace said, "Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events."

However, the king, Prince William, Princess Catherine, Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh and Princess Anne were in attendance at those events. (Notably, Princess Catherine served up a very millennial look at the Remembrance Day concert.)

Though the queen will be resting up tonight instead of visiting the variety show, as I mentioned, she has been seen a number of times this week. Just two days ago, the 77-year-old queen received a major honor courtesy of Princess Anne. Queen Camilla attended a special ceremony at Senate House in London, where she was awarded with an Honorary Doctorate of Literature.
