Princess Eugenie Welcomes Second Baby and Shares Name (and First Pic!) on Instagram

Wait, was that the sound of the British line of succession shifting? Yep, Princess Eugenie, 33, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, 37, just welcomed their second child—a son, named Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank.

Princess Eugenie revealed the newborn's name (and gave her royal followers a first glimpse of the baby) in an Instagram post this afternoon.

“Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs.,” the princess wrote. 

Princess Eugenie explained the baby's name in the rest of her caption, writing, “He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald.” She also added, “Augie is loving being a big brother already.”

The princess and her husband welcomed their first son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, on Feb. 9, 2021. He is currently 2 years old.

Following the shot of baby Ernest snuggled up asleep, Princess Eugenie also included a pic of big brother August patting his sibling's head as he watched him sleep in a bassinet.

Currently, Princess Eugenie is eleventh in the line of succession to the throne, while “Augie” is right behind her, at twelfth. Now, baby Ernest will slide in right behind his brother, in the thirteenth slot.

Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank have been married since October 2018. They announced that they were expecting a second child in January of this year.

The princess made the announcement by posting a photo of August cuddling her belly, and the caption read, “We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer.”
