Look out, Meghan and Kate. You’re not the only royals with fashionable finesse. Princess Beatrice, older sister to Eugenie, cousin to Harry and William and granddaughter to Queen Elizabeth, has been on a stylish spree this summer, after she reportedly hired a team of new stylists earlier in the year. Perhaps it’s because she and her new beau, real-estate magnate and philanthropist/millionaire Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are getting serious and she’s dressing to impress. Or perhaps because Meghan Markle’s taken a fashion backseat while on maternity leave (hey, someone has to fill in for her in the sartorial spotlight). Whatever the case, here are our favorite fashion moments from the Princess of York.
We’re Calling It: Princess Beatrice Is the Most Stylish Royal of Summer
1. When The Princess Played With Color
The Princess of York borrowed her sister’s cherry red robe coat by Galvan (Eugenie previously wore the same one to a film premiere in December) for the Burlington Arcade 200th anniversary dinner in May. She paired it with a black minidress, Gucci bag and black heels. We love the bright, bold color statement from the royal style rockstar, who may have taken a cue from cousin-in-law Markle (remember that bold red coat and purple dress combo she wore back in January?). Whatever the case, we hope to see more palette experimentation from Beatrice in the coming months.

2. And Experimented With Hats
Beatrice knows not all fascinators and hats are made equal. So rather than donning her typical Philip Treacy structural number for the Royal Ascot horse races in June, the princess paired a wide-brimmed light blue hat with colorful tassel detail by Bundle MacLaren with her eyelet midi-length dress with collar by Maje. We love the southwestern vibes of the bolero-style topper with brightly colored cords, and applaud her out-of-the-(hat)box approach to typical Royal Ascot style. Brava, Your Highness!

3. When Beatrice Wore A Day-to-date-night Blazer
For one of our favorite recent looks, the princess wore a rust-colored silk midi skirt by Reiss with a black tank and blazer to opening night of Lenny Kravitz & Dom Perignon’s photo exhibition in North London in July. The blazer was expertly tailored, with a black button at the waist and just a hint of volume at the shoulders. Just us, or does this outfit also scream Markle Sparkle? The duchess is known to love a good blazer with black pointy-toe heels...perhaps the two royals have been getting together to exchange styling pointers? (Lord knows Meghan’s already swapped shoe recs with Beatrice’s sister.)

4. And Nailed Wedding-guest Attire
At the wedding of her distant cousin Lady Gabriella Windsor in May, Princess Beatrice wore a navy lace layered dress by Self Portrait with peekaboo details. She carried a matching clutch, and wore nude ankle-strap heels. The dress is one of the most revealing yet for the Princess of York, and we love that Beatrice (and her new stylists) is testing out the fashion waters with new, more on-trend silhouettes (midi length! puffy sleeves! crossover bodice!) in head-turning fabrics.

5. When She Made Florals Feel Fresh
For the queen’s annual Buckingham Palace garden party in May, Beatrice breathed new life into yawn-inducing florals with a shiny silk midi frock from The Vampire's Wife. The dress featured frilly ¾-length sleeves, a waist-tie ribbon belt and a swingy, tiered hemline. She accessorized with a trendy box-basket bag, a garnet hatband and black pumps. This is only one example of a recent dress flattering her figure more so in recent months, which makes us believe her new stylists know a thing or two about the value of expert tailoring.

6. And Expertly Accessorized An Lbd
The mark of a true fashionista? Accessorizing like a pro. And it seems the Princess of York has been studying up on the art of the accoutrement (perhaps she took a masterclass from her own gran, Queen Elizabeth?). For a night out with the BF in mid-July, Beatrice paired a flattering fit-and-flare LBD with strappy black heels, a turquoise bag and studded hatband, adding a pop of color and punk rock vibes (courtesy of the metallic studs on her headband) to her conservative date-night attire.
