Miles Teller Initiated a Handshake with Prince William (Even Though It’s Against Royal Rules)

Miles Teller is opening up about meeting Prince William and Kate Middleton at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere in London earlier this year. As it turns out, the encounter didn’t go as planned…

While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 35-year-old actor revealed the cast was given a full prep sheet, detailing what you can/can’t do when greeting the royals. 

Fallon proceeded to pull out a picture of the meet-cute, featuring Teller shaking hands with the Prince of Wales—but the prince’s eyes are extremely wide. Princess Catherine stands beside him and smiles at Teller (while actress Jennifer Connelly is staring right at her).

Even the prince and princess have broken royal protocol on certain occasions. Back in May, the couple visited Scotland to promote the importance of mental health. They were greeted by admirers outside of the Wheatley Group in Glasgow. 

One fan took out her phone and and captured a selfie with the royals. Prince William even placed his hand on the woman’s shoulder. (FYI, royals are prohibited from taking selfies while on duty, which was enforced by the late Queen Elizabeth.)
