We’ve obsessed over every non-maternity coat the Duchess of Sussex has donned throughout her pregnancy, but now that Meghan Markle is in the home stretch, we’d be remiss if we didn’t do a deep dive into her shoes, most of which were sky-high. Yep, no swollen ankles for this royal mama. In fact, Meghan wore flats only a handful of times. (We’re impressed.) Without further ado, our trimester-by-trimester guide.
First Trimester
October 15, 2018: 3.5-inch Stuart Weitzman Pumps
Touchdown in Australia! Fresh off her pregnancy announcement and roughly 12 weeks along, Meghan found herself out and about with Harry at the Taronga Zoo and wearing a pair of nude (and stiletto) Stuart Weitzman pumps.

October 15: Rothy’s Flats
For a boat ride to the Sydney Opera House, Meghan gave her feet a rest and swapped her heels for a pair of classic—and now best-selling—flats. Smart.

October 17: 2.5-inch J.Crew Ankle Boots
A day in the Australian countryside requires booties, no? Meghan chose a more sensible (sort of?) suede option for a low-key farm tour.

October 18: 4-inch Manolo Blahnik Pumps
She met guide dogs, cooked and even playfully tossed around a football while wearing these suede navy pumps in Melbourne.

October 21: Veja Sneakers
Her royal responsibility? Sailing while preggers as part of the Invictus Games in Sydney. Her royal work-around? A pair of supportive (but chic) sneaks.

October 22: Sarah Flint Sandals
We know Meghan was still in her first trimester, but we applaud her effort to squeeze her toes into this strappy style for a walkabout on Fraser Island.

October 24: 4.3-inch Castaner Espadrilles
We all know that wedges are sturdier than your average heel—which is probably why Meghan wore them while traipsing around Suvo, Fiji’s capital city.

October 28: 4-inch Stuart Weitzman Heels
Meghan threw this barely-there "Nudist" style on for a reception at the Government House in New Zealand.

October 29: 3.5-inch Stuart Weitzman Boots
Meghan chose this lace-up style for the second day of her tour in New Zealand.

Second Trimester
November 21: 3.75-inch Givenchy Ankle Boots
With a barely-there bump in November, Meghan wore this funky style for a visit to the Hubb Community Kitchen. (We like that they’re structural but also appear to have some give.)

December 10: 4.25-inch Tamara Mellon Heels
Meghan had totally “popped” when she decided to throw on this gold strappy pair of Grecian-like heels for the British Fashion Awards in London. Well-played.

December 18: 4.25-inch Aquazzura Pumps
This isn’t the first (or last) time Meghan wore the “Deneuve”: Here, she put on a bow-heel style for a visit to the Brinsworth House care home.

January 10: 4-inch Gianvito Rossi Pumps
Meghan wore this sheer (called “plexi”) cow print style to a royal event at Smartworks in January.

January 30: 3.33-inch Aquazzura Heels
A trip to the National Theatre meant Meghan busted out her engagement shoes—white and elegant with bonus points for the adjustable straps.

Third Trimester
February 1, 2019: 3.3-inch Sarah Flint Boots
Meghan was in Bristol, England. It was snowing. But there were royal well-wishers to be greeted—and a pair of suede olive-hued knee-high boots to be worn.

February 7: 4-inch Aquazzura Mules
Another day, another fancy occasion: Meghan likely kept her increasingly wobbly balance on the arm of Prince Harry while wearing this pointy toed (and strappy) pair to the Endeavour Fund Awards.

February 24: Birdie’s Slipper
On the, ahem, heels of her New York City baby shower, the duchess joined Prince Harry for an official visit to Morocco, and made a solid choice for all that third trimester jet-setting: a velvet slipper known for its seven-layer cushion comfort.

February 24: 4-inch Dior Heels
Girl is in her third trimester—but that didn’t stop Meghan from dressing to the nines in these metallic stilettos for a formal dinner reception in Morocco.

February 25: 2.75-inch Manolo Blahnik Slingbacks
More from Morocco: These black satin and polka-dot pumps were dainty—but kept Meghan steady—as she strolled around the Andalusian Gardens with Harry.

March 11: 4.25-inch Aquazzura Pumps
Note the royal repeat! There must be something about this brand that keeps Meghan coming back. For a visit to the Canada House in March, she was nearing 36(ish) weeks, but still chose to teeter in this slim stiletto style.

March 12: 4.5-inch Victoria Beckham Heels
Meghan selected this satin emerald green style (currently only sold in other colors) to wear for one of her very last pre-maternity leave appearances for Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey. We hope she took lots of sitting breaks!
