When Laura Prepon became a mother in the summer of 2017, she and her husband, Ben Foster, opted to keep details about their daughter private. So when we learned how Laura Prepon’s baby has changed her life in an exclusive interview with the actress, it was all the more resonant. As the 39-year-old Orange Is the New Black star explained, parenthood has completely shifted the way she looks at the world.
The actress and director opened up about how her life has changed since starting a family, saying, “Being a mom is everything. Since I’ve been on [Orange Is the New Black], I’ve gotten married and I’ve had a kid. I don’t even know what my life was like before this.”
She went on to say that she experienced a paradigm shift upon giving birth: “It’s such an incredible change. And the only way that I can describe it is that when I became a mother, I woke up. It’s like someone turned on the lights and I would never go back,” she said. “Now that I’m a wife and a mother, my priorities are so clear. There’s no room for anything that doesn’t fall in line for what’s good for my family.”
Speaking of family, Prepon also gave us the scoop on her and Foster’s relationship, explaining, “My husband and I have known each other since I was 18, but we took the long route to each other. [Parenthood] has been such a phenomenal experience so far. I’m just so blessed.”
