Looks like King Charles is going to be booked and busy this coming summer.

Buckingham Palace just released a brand-new portrait of the 75-year-old monarch and his wife, Queen Camilla, on the royal family’s official Instagram account

The photo (taken by royal photographer Millie Pilkington) shows His Majesty looking over at his wife with a smile, while surrounded by green foliage and flowers in bloom. The king is wearing a gray tailored suit with a white collared shirt and a blue polka dot tie, while the queen dons a vibrant blue dress with puffy sleeves.

In the caption, Buckingham Palace details the king’s return to work after undergoing medical treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer for the past few months now. “His Majesty The King will shortly return to public-facing duties after a period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis,” the message reads.

It goes on to say how the king and queen will make a trip to a trip to a cancer treatment center to meet “medical specialists and patients” on April 30. (Note: The name and location of the center has not been disclosed.) The caption continues, “This visit will be the first in a number of external engagements His Majesty will undertake in the weeks ahead.”

In the surprise announcement, the palace also provides a detailed itinerary for royal fans (like myself) to see, which shows what the king’s work schedule will look like in the coming months. “In addition, The King and Queen will host Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan for a State Visit in June, at the request of HM Government,” the palace adds.

Before the message ends, King Charles and Queen Camilla offer a special message to fans, which says, “As the first anniversary of The Coronation approaches, Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year.”

Fantastic news and a gorgeous photo.
