Kerry Washington Channels Ron Burgundy to Gear Up for Latest Project

We've seen Kerry Washington play everything from a D.C.-based crisis manager in Scandal to an aspiring artist in Little Fires Everywhere. However, we never thought we'd see her with the voice of Will Ferrell.

In a new Instagram video, Washington gives her best Ron Burgundy impression using audio of the character taken from the 2004 comedy film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. The film sees Ferrell as Burgundy, a San Diego television anchor from the ’70s who clashes with his new female co-host. And Washington seemingly recreated his character's dramatic warm-up sequence to prepare for her own new project.

“Stay Classy, @Audible,” Washington wrote in her caption. “#TheProphecy July 28th. Link in bio to hear the trailer!!!”

In the Scandal star's video, she is seen in the recording booth, seemingly prepping to record an episode for her new show, The Prophecy. To hype herself up, she lip-syncs along to Ron Burgundy's warm-up sequence from the beginning of Anchorman. “Hey everyone! Come and see how good I look,” she comically mouths at the beginning. She does everything from the character's vocal warm-ups to his neck stretches, and we gotta say...she nails it.

The Prophecy is a new series premiering on Audible, an audiobook and podcast platform. According to Variety, the show is a “modern-day spin on three Bible stories...of the Virgin Mary, Daniel in the Lions’ Den and Jonah and the Whale.”

Washington executive produced the series, and she voices a hydrologist named Dr. Virginia Edwards. Other stars lending their voices to the audiobook include David Oyelowo, Asa Butterfield, Steven Pasquale, Laurence Fishburne and Daniel Dae Kim.

If there's an Anchorman 3, Kerry definitely deserves a spot on the cast list.
