It’s no secret that Prince William’s beard was the low-key breakout star of 2024. The 42-year-old royal previously revealed that his daughter, Princess Charlotte, doesn’t approve of his facial hair. But what does his wife, Kate Middleton, think?
Royal Aide Reveals What Kate Middleton Really Thinks of Prince William’s New Look
Happy wife, happy life

The couple’s former royal aide, Jason Knauf, recently shared rare details about his experience working for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Knauf even addressed the prince’s ever-changing beard that originally debuted last year.
“I love it. I think it’s great,” Knauf said in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia (according to People magazine). “But I’ve talked to him about it—or tried to talk to him about it. He’s like, ‘It’s here. I have a beard.’ No further conversation.’”
When asked what Princess Catherine thinks of Prince William’s beard, Knauf gave a witty response that every husband can relate to. “If she didn’t like it, it wouldn’t be there,” he added. “I could tell you that.”

Knauf has worked with the Prince and Princess of Wales for several years. He started off as the couple’s communications secretary before he was promoted to chief executive of The Royal Foundation. Now, he’s part of The Earthshot Prize’s board of trustees.
Prince William first debuted his beard back in August 2024 when he appeared in a video with his wife. He dabbled with the length over the next few months by giving it a trim and even shaving it altogether.
Earlier this year, the royal sported a noticeably thicker beard when he attended the inaugural Emergency and Critical Care Conference in Birmingham to celebrate his new patronage with the College of Paramedics.
Sounds like Prince William’s beard isn’t going anywhere.
