Over the weekend, Kate Middleton, 42, surprised royally obsessed fans by sharing a new photo of herself posing with her three kids amid her recovery from the planned abdominal surgery she underwent back in January. Shortly after the photo was posted on the Instagram page Princess Catherine shares with her husband, Prince William, 41, claims of the family photo being manipulated quickly started circulating among multiple news outlets (mostly involving Princess Charlotte’s sleeve), which caused the Princess of Wales to come out with a personal statement to clear up any misconceptions.

Earlier this morning, the royal mom of three posted her written statement on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram Story. In the now-expired post, Princess Catherine apologized for “any confusion” about the family photo. She wrote, “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day.”

And to make sure royal admirers and well-wishers knew the note personally came from her, she signed the statement with the letter “C,” which stands for Catherine.

A source recently told People that Princess Catherine made “minor adjustments” to the “amateur, family photograph taken by the Prince of Wales.”

The unnamed source also revealed that the Prince and Princess of Wales wanted to “offer an informal picture of the family together for Mother’s Day” despite the princess being in recovery. “The family spent Mother’s Day together and had a wonderful day,” the person added.

In the post, Princess Catherine is seated while accompanied by her children, who are smiling from ear to ear. And the person behind the camera is none other than Prince William himself, who stepped in to be the family photographer.

The caption read, “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months. Wishing everyone a Happy Mother’s Day. C.”

Thank you for clarifying, Princess Catherine.
