Kate Middleton is here to remind us what the holiday season is really about: love. And not just the romantic kind—though sure, that’s nice too—but the kind of love that includes friendships, family and even those everyday moments of kindness.

The Princess of Wales, 42, recently shared a clip of her voiceover introduction for the TV broadcast of her December 6 carol service, Together at Christmas. She even took to social media to give us all a sneak peek of her message, and spoiler alert: it’s as thoughtful as you’d expect.

Middleton begins with a reflection that the holidays are a time to "slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all."

Princess Catherine continues, “It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart. With love, kindness, and forgiveness. So much of what the Christmas spirit is all about."

Middleton then gets real about what the season means, touching on the importance of empathy and understanding, adding, “The Christmas story encourages us to consider the experiences and feelings of others. It also reflects our own vulnerabilities and reminds us of the importance of giving and receiving empathy, as well as just how much we need each other in spite of our differences."

And her closing thoughts? Pure warmth. “Above all else, it encourages us to turn to love, not fear. The love that we show ourselves and the love we show others. Love that listens with empathy, love that is kind and understanding, love that is forgiving and love that brings joy and hope.”

The social post was captioned with Princess Catherine's closing line in the clip, “It is love which is the greatest gift we can receive—not just at Christmas, but every day of our lives.”

Catch Royal Carols: Together at Christmas airing on ITV1 and ITVX in the U.K. on Dec. 24 (or streaming on BritBox for those of us across the pond).
