People just named the next Sexiest Man Alive, and I’m seriously surprised by the choice.
Today, the magazine announced that—drumroll, please—John Krasinski has been named the 2024 Sexiest Man Alive. The actor, 45, originally rose to fame as Jim Halpert on The Office before expanding his resume to include other award-winning titles, like A Quiet Place and Jack Ryan.
As much as I love Krasinski, I must admit that I was surprised by the choice.
I’m not saying that Krasinski is unattractive, but he doesn’t fit the bill of a stereotypical leading man in Hollywood. In fact, he started his career as a lovable goofball whose personality makes him 1,000 times cuter. Most fans fell in love with him for his humor—his handsome face is just a bonus.
In the best way possible, it seems the Sexiest Man Alive competition has morphed into something bigger. As we all know, “sexy” doesn’t just apply to looks—it also represents being a good (AKA attractive) person, or in the case of Krasinski, a great dad, a loving husband and a successful filmmaker.
In his candid cover story, Krasinski revealed that he never expected to be named Sexiest Man Alive. “Just immediate blackout, actually. Zero thoughts,” he told the mag. “Other than maybe I'm being punked. That's not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is this the day that I'll be asked to be Sexiest Man Alive?’ And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me.”
This is a perfect opportunity for one of Michael Scott’s poorly-timed “That’s what she said” jokes.
