Jennifer Garner Got Stuck in an Elevator for Over an Hour and Documented the Whole Thing

I would've been freaking out the entire time

If I got stuck in an elevator, I wouldn’t be nearly as calm as Jennifer Garner was when she got stuck in one at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. But fortunately, she captured the whole thing in a series of videos and posted them on her personal Instagram page over the weekend.

Two minutes into being trapped in an elevator, Garner takes out her phone and presses record. While sitting on the elevator floor, the 52-year-old actress says into the camera, “I could use a Wolverine, I could use a Deadpool. I could use someone. Yeah, we’re looking for stairs.”

The next clip was recorded 11 minutes into the elevator fiasco and Garner proclaims that it’s starting to feel a bit “toasty” inside. “I’m sphitzy, I need to blot.”

In the next 35 minutes, the Alias alum explains why she thought it was a good idea to sit on the floor of the elevator. “I think I heard on an episode of The Office or Brooklyn Nine-Nine or something that you’re supposed to sit. So we’re sitting,” she says into the camera. (We even get a rendition of the iconic song “99 Bottles of Beer” 45 minutes into the debacle.)

Finally, after being trapped in the elevator for an hour and twelve minutes, everyone starts cheering when firefighters show up and pry open the elevator doors. In the caption, Garner wrote, “Baby’s first Comic Con: a short story.”

After watching the videos from beginning to end, I just have one question for the Elektra actress: How were you able to stay so calm?! Apparently, I’m not the only one who wanted to know how the 13 Going on 30 star managed to stay level-headed throughout the entire experience. For example, actress Gwyneth Paltrow commented, “Okay, no way oh my god how are you so calm.” Even Tracee Ellis Ross chimed in and wrote, “@jennifer.garner oh my! Well done on staying calm.”
