George Clooney’s Kids ‘Don’t Really Care’ About His Celebrity Status: ‘They Don’t Actually Believe Me’

George Clooney, 61, has been in numerous hit films, won loads of awards (including two Oscars), been named the “Sexiest Man Alive” (twice) and more. But there are two people who don't really see him as a star: his 5-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.

This past weekend, the Up in the Air star was one of the recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors, among names like Gladys Knight, Amy Grant and more. However, when asked by Fox News if his kids were aware of the major honor, Clooney joked, “No, they don't even…I keep trying to explain to them what a big star I am, and they don't really care.”

Clooney then turned to his wife, Amal, 44, who attended the ceremony with him, and said, “And, they don't actually believe me, do they?” To which Amal replied, “No, not really.” She then added, “One day.”

While his kids may not realize it, it was quite a big deal for Clooney to receive the honor, and Amal noted how special the ceremony was: “It's really been a magical weekend.”

Clooney previously discussed how honored he feels, saying, “Growing up in a small town in Kentucky I could never have imagined that someday I’d be the one sitting in the balcony at the Kennedy Center Honors. To be mentioned in the same breath with the rest of these incredible artists is an honor. This is a genuinely exciting surprise for the whole Clooney family.”

The pair have been together since 2013, and they tied the knot at the Ca' Farsetti palace in Venice on September 27, 2014. Twins Ella and Alexander were born in June 2017.

In the past, the couple have talked about how their kids are fluent in Italian, even though neither of their parents speak the language. “They speak fluent Italian, but Amal and I do not,” Clooney told E! News' Daily Pop. “That's a flaw in our logic, right there.”

We can't wait until those kids realize just how famous both of their parents are.
